Listening Antichrisis is like going into a journey of melancholic beauty, their acoustic style with an obvious metal background leads you into a very pleasant musical experience. If you check out Wikipedia or Encyclopeadia Metallum you’ll see there’s a lot of band deploying a similar style mix, but when you listen to them you’ll realized Antichrisis is far superior from most of them. With a hand-worked composition, a huge instrumentation and emotive interpretation Antichrisis is an incredible band.

Escuchar Antihrisis es como internarse es una travesía de belleza melancólica, su estilo acústico con un evidente trasfondo metalero te guía a través de una experiencia musical muy agradable. Si revisan wikipedia o Encyclopeadia Metallum verán que hay bastantes bandas con una conjunción de estilos similar, no obstante al escucharlos se darán cuenta que Antichrisis es muy superior a la gran mayoría. Con una composición muy cuidada, una instrumentación extensa y una interpretación muy emotiva Antichrisis es una banda increíble.

I discover BallBlaster while lurking in Monopoly Records’s artists, Monopoly is Dvar’s label, and even when they have a different approach to music both rule and are somehow similar. BallBlasster has an unique style based on 8bitish melodies expanded into pretty awesome songs.  I think anybody who enjoys 8-bit stuff will fucking loves this album.

Descubrí a BallBlaster mientras leía/buscaba artistas de Monopoly Records, Monopoly es la disquera de Dvar, y aunque ambas bandas tienen un acercamiento hacia la música distinto ambas rulean y son de alguna forma parecidas. BallBlaster tiene un estilo único basado en melodías 8bitescas expandidas en canciones simplemente geniales. Creo que cualquiera que disfrute cosas de 8bits adorara este álbum.

I’ve been interested in steampunk as sub-genre of literature and, in shorter terms, art for a long time. So it was a matter of time until I became aware there’s also music with this label. Based on what steampunk is I expected something less electronic and a bit more instrumental, but I still like how it sounds. Abney Park’s style is basically a mix between industrial and ancient rhythms, without a doubt a nice album.

He sido un seguidor del steampunk como subgénero literario y, a resumidas cuentas, artístico por un largo tiempo. Así que era solo cuestión de tiempo antes de que descubriera que igualmente existe música con dicha etiqueta. Considerando las características del steampunk esperaba algo menos electrónico y más instrumental, de cualquier forma disfrute bastante el resultado. El estilo de Abney park es básicamente una mezcla entre ritmos industriales y arcanos, sin lugar a dudas un buen disco.

Painful, honest, trenchant, decadent, effete, beautiful, sordid, esurient, stabbing and placid are some of the multiple adjectives that can be used to describe Javier “El duque del ruido” Corcobado’s work. This album is full of poetic, melancholic, little master pieces, without a doubt a great album. Unfortunately Corcobado is another great musician that gets less recognition than deserved for not giving up against mainstream pressure.

Doloroso, honesto, incisivo, decadente, hermoso, sórdido, voraz, lacerante y apacible son solo algunos de los múltiples adjetivos con los que puede describirse el trabajo de Javier “El Duque del ruido” Corcobado. Este disco esta plagado de canciones poéticas, melancólicas, pequeñas obras de arte, sin lugar a dudas un gran disco. Desgraciadamente Corcobado es otro de tantos grandes músicos que por no ceder a las presiones del mainstream son poco conocidos y solo reconocidos por pequeños grupos de seguidores.

If you look back to the 90’s it might seem than every Black Metal band was trying to make exactly the same kind of “We’re the most fucking brutal, unholy damn band on this morbid, rotten and disgusting world” Black Metal some of them reach it in some way, but most of them were really lame. That’s were Arcturus(Mortem on their begining) came, they developed their own style that included complex melodies, powerful arrangements, tortured screams and Gregorian alike clean voices. This is their first album, not the best on my opinion, and will give you an idea of what its called: Avant-garde Black Metal.

Si hechas un vistazo a los noventas te daría la impresión de que todas las bandas de Black Metal estaban intentando hacer exactamente el mismo tipo de “Somos las maldita banda más jodidamente brutal y blasfema en este mórbido, podrido y repulsivo mundo” Black Metal algunas lo lograron de cierta forma, pero la gran mayoría eran bastante malas. Es ahi donde entra Arcturus, pues lograron desarrollar un estilo propio que incluía melodías complejas, arreglos poderosos, gritos atormentados y vocales limpias con cierto toque gregoriano. Este es su primer disco, no el mejor en mi opinión, y te dará una idea de lo que es conocido como: Avant-garde Black Metal.

I’m not sure how this band should be classified Gothic Americana, Southern Gothic or even Punk/Dark Cabaret. It has the decadent and sometimes theatrical style from the cabaret and at the same time the folkish influences from the Americana. Anyways, the final out-coming is remarkable an quite interesting.

No estoy seguro de como debería clasificarse esta banda Gothic Americana, Gótico Sureño o incluso Punk/Dark Cabaret. Posee el estilo decadente y en ocasiones teatral del cabaret y las influencias folclóricas de la música tradicional estadounidense. De cualquier forma el resultado es destacable y muy interesante.
